The firms Commercial Banking (CB) division represents a strategically important business to the firm, delivering extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and dedicated service to 24,000+ clients including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions and not-for-profit entities with annual revenue generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion.
An opportunity exists to join the Asia Pacific (APAC) team of J.P. Morgan’s Commercial Banking Group in the capacity of a Credit and business Operations Manager, based in Shanghai.
The APAC Commercial Banking Team is responsible for the overall relationship management and credit requirements of the APAC subsidiaries of our US Commercial Banking clients. Leveraging the firm’s capabilities to meet our client’s domestic and international financial needs, the team provides dedicated client service, local market expertise and industry knowledge, combined with active coordination, domestically, regionally and internationally of J.P. Morgan’s extensive product and service expertise to deliver comprehensive solutions across multiple product and service disciplines. Traditional Commercial Banking product and service capabilities include, but are not limited to: bilateral and syndicated commercial lending, treasury services, investment banking services and asset management.
Work with US underwriters and local credit committees to obtain credit approvals. For local approvals, this entails submission of credit memos which include an assessment of the credit worthiness of the obligor, recommending the appropriate credit structure and ensuring that local business and regulatory considerations are taken into account.
As part of the credit due diligence, working with the Credit SMEs and ICE, assess if the credit facilities continue to be structured appropriately including monitoring of end-use of proceeds to comply with regulatory requirements.
Work with Credit Portfolio Delivery, JPMorgan & external counsel on legal agreements and provide assistance and input to these teams ( typically as a point of escalation) to enable the closing of the credit transactions.
Work with US underwriters on credit proposals for setting up & / or renewal of credit facilities.
Provide credit operational support for ICE to help them with client relationship aspects including provision of information on their clients financial and operating performance, research on industry developments.
Adhere to Firm and local requirements which include tracking of expiring facilities, utilizations, timely renewals, monitor risk rating changes etc.
Work with internal stakeholders which includes compliance, mid and back office support and product teams to ensure smooth and proper execution.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and support the CB exam team and BOE for external facing requests and matters in relation to the CB credit portfolio.
Assist in the overall business management, risk and control matters.
Represent CB at local internal forums to provide updates
Qualifications
Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
Understanding of credit product and local China Regulations would be beneficial;
Bachelor/Degree Qualified in Business, Finance, Accounting &/or Economics
